The seventh famous university in the Top 10 Best Universities in Uganda that Toplist wants to introduce to you is Gulu University. Gulu University (GU) is a Ugandan university. As of September 2016, it was one of the country's nine public universities.
Act 7 of the Ugandan Parliament, enacted in 2001, established GU. That Act was later amended by Act 3 of 2006. In September 2002, the university admitted its first students and began teaching.
GU awarded degrees to 1,050 graduates, including 40 medical doctors, during the fifth annual graduation ceremony on January 23, 2010, the first graduating class of the Gulu University School of Medicine (with the help of the University of Naples Federico II). Thirteen students received a Master of Business Administration degree among the graduates.
GU has three campuses as of October 2016:

- The second campus is in Kitgum, about 104 kilometers (65 miles) northeast of Gulu, close to the international border with South Sudan. In 2011, that campus became operational.
- In response to the Kingdom of Bunyoro's request, the university established a campus in Hoima, offering agriculture, the environment, computer science, information technology, business studies, accounting, and education.
