Mbarara University of Science and Technology
Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), also known as Mbarara University, is a Ugandan public university. Mbarara University began accepting students and providing instruction in 1989. It is one of the country's ten public universities and degree-granting institutions. The Uganda National Council for Higher Education has accredited MUST.
There are two campuses at the university: the Mbarara Campus and Kihumuro Campus. The Mbarara Campus is located on the Mbarara-Kabale Highway, about 266 kilometers (165 miles) southwest of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. The university campus is located at 0.616944°S 30.506667°E.
The Kihumuro Campus is located in the Kihumuro suburb, approximately 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) west of Mbarara's central business district on the Mbarara-Bushenyi Road. The campus is located on 139 hectares (340 acres) of land, away from the noise of the city. Once completed, it will house all university faculties and institutes, with the exception of the College of Health Sciences, which will remain on the Mbarara Campus. The Ugandan government has spent USD billion (approximately US$2 million) of its own money on the project. It has also obtained a US$12 million loan from the African Development Bank to expedite construction.
