Happy Death Day 2U

In the movie "Happy Death Day 2U," there is a quite daring element. "Happy Death Day 2U" builds upon its horror basis in order to turn into a high concept mystery/sci-fi/comedy thriller. Meanwhile, the first "Happy Death Day" movie was indeed a standard horror film, which added a cunning twist by incorporating the concept from "Groundhog Day" into the storyline. Christopher Landon, the film's director and writer, would have been seen as naive if his genre-bending gamble had failed. Fortunately for Landon and the audience, this endeavor is a resounding success!

In "Happy Death Day 2U", the protagonist, Theresa Gelbman (played by Jessica Rothe) is once again locked in a time loop, which picks up right where its predecessor left off. The original film did not explain the origin of the time loop. In a manner reminiscent of "Groundhog Day," Theresa needed to acquire vital and valuable lessons in order to escape this loop and avoid being constantly killed by Lori Spengler (played by Ruby Modine).
