Spider-man: Into The Spider-verse
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is plainly less somber than Roma and more populist than First Reformed, but that does not make Sony Pictures Animation's film any less deserving of praise. It is an extremely unique movie in that its humor is as sharp as ever, while still retaining the emotionally compelling plotlines. The humor never undermines the emotion, and the feelings never derail the comedy; as the tale unfolds and the stakes rise, both elements complement one another.
The animation of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse pays respect to the vintage comic print aesthetic of bygone decades while still being dynamic and thrilling. This charming blend of historical and contemporary elements works in tandem with the film's hip-hop score, which brings New York City to life and shows the audience what helps make it so unique.
The film's greatest triumph, however, lies in its emphasis on the rising tide of a community that understands the origin of its strength and prosperity. All of those achievements result from accepting and recognizing the creative and cultural contributions of America's diverse races.
