Hell’s Backbone Grill

The Hell's Backbone Grill & Farm is located in Boulder, Utah, which has a population of 226 people and is one of the most remote towns in the US. The restaurant, now in its 21st season, has one of the top Zagat ratings in Utah and has been named a James Beard Award semifinalist in 2017, 2018, and 2019, as well as a nominee/finalist for finest cooks in the Mountain Region in 2020.


This restaurant is run on Buddhist principles, with a focus on sustainability, environmental ethics, and community service. They provide organic, locally sourced, regionally and seasonally appropriate cuisine, with a large portion of the produce grown on our six-acre farm. Their fruit is mostly sourced from heritage orchards in Boulder, and the beef is sourced from local ranchers. It isn't easy, but it is worthwhile.
