High in Antioxidants
Truffles are high in antioxidants, which are substances that help combat free radicals and protect your cells from oxidative damage. According to research, antioxidants are beneficial to many areas of your health and may even be connected to a decreased risk of chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
Though the levels vary across species, truffles have been proven to contain antioxidants such as vitamin C, lycopene, gallic acid, and homogentisic acid. Test-tube studies reveal that both black and white truffles may help destroy cancer cells and decrease inflammation due to their antioxidant content. It should be noted that this study used very concentrated truffle extracts. As a result, it is uncertain how antioxidants included in fresh truffles may affect your general health.
