House of Gaga
It rounds off its collection of the best art galleries in Mexico City with one of the most up-and-coming contemporary galleries on the scene: House of Gaga. It was founded in 2008 by Fernando Mesta and seems to show anything it can get away with, all with ease and panache that seems effortless.
The Condesa gallery is modest and relatively plain, but what it lacks in architectural design it makes up for in daring and in the names of the artists it represents, which range from Mathieu Malouf to Anna Udenberg. Their selection includes both foreign and local work, as well as established and upcoming artists. Call ahead to ensure there is a show on. House of Gaga is rapidly acquiring national and international fame; the willingness to take risks here is paying off. Their displays, which include works by Sam Pulitzer and Karl Holmqvist, are surprising, weird, and hip all at the same time.
