Proyectos Monclova
Proyectos Monclova debuted in 2005 and immediately established itself as Mexico City's foremost place for modern Mexican art. Teófilo Cohen, Polina Stroganova, and David Trabulsi, gallery partners, welcomed new foreign artists to the program after ten years of creating a strong local presence to encourage discussion between Mexican and international artists. If Proyectos Monclova is anything to go by, a renovated pool hall makes for a great art gallery. This huge room presently houses a delightful mix of local and foreign artworks that changes on a regular basis.
While the gallery agreed to continue working with contemporary Mexican artists using the same practices that had brought it success in the previous ten years, Proyectos Monclova worked with Artsy to alter its marketing and sales strategies to meet the enlarged focus of its exhibition program. Proyectos Monclova will continue to promote a program of Mexican artists while also bringing foreign artists to the local scene. The gallery has been able to use analytics to guide its regional strategy, reach and develop contacts with new collectors that its partners would not have met otherwise, and extend and support a distinctive and broad exhibition program by partnering with Artsy.
