Idanre Hill

Idanre hill is located in Idanre town, which is located in Ondo state, Nigeria. It is famous for its landscapes and culturally diverse sites such as the Owa palace, the old court, the bell tower, the water of thunder, burial grounds, and Agbooogun's footprint.

These locations helped to establish Idanre Hill as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Idanre Hill is three thousand feet (3000 ft) above sea level and has a unique ecosystem. The hill is built on a 500-million-year-old pre-Cambrian Bedouin, and large fragments of the rock were cut, resulting in multiple deep valleys in the rock.

The ancient settlement on the hill has been around for a donkey's years. In 1894, missionaries led by Reverend Gilbert Carter introduced civilization to the people of Idanre. In the year 1896, missionaries built the first elementary school, as well as a court of law, which houses a prison where offenders spend their jail time.

Idanre is located twenty kilometers from Akure, the state capital. It covers an area of 1,944 square kilometers (1,914 sq km). It is the region that produces the most cocoa, and Yoruba is the dominant language.

Idanre Hills is a popular tourist destination in Nigeria.
