Ilha Grande
Ilha Grande is Brazil's calm, untamed paradise, so near to Rio de Janeiro but so distinct. When you get off the ship to the island, you are disconnected from the outer world. There will be no automobiles, no banks (bring your money! ), and no ringing phones. It's all about sunbathing, sailing, swimming, retreating into spas, and reappearing for fresh seafood at one of the 30 little eateries.
This is an unusual location with stunning beaches, fascinating woods, lakes, and waterfalls. Ilha Grande is a tiny island whose waters are rich in shipwrecks and sea life, making it a perfect location for scuba diving all year. The debris of the ships dates back to a conflict between colonial soldiers and pirates some hundred years ago. The combination of history and nature creates an intriguing blend of an intoxicating atmosphere.
