Independence Day

Among the most famous festivals in Uzbekistan, Independence Day stands out because of its historical significance. That day marks Uzbekistan's resumption of sovereignty after a long period of Soviet domination.

Parties and events are planned in several towns and cities to commemorate the occasion. The president delivers a solemn speech to the entire nation in Tashkent's Alisher Navoiy National Park, which is followed by a fireworks show.
