Iringa International School (IIS)
Iringa International School began in 1993 to offer an excellent education to kids in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. It was started by a group of parents, some from other countries and some from Tanzania. The school is the most expensive in Iringa and follows the IB and Cambridge curriculums. The yearly fees range from Sh16.7 million for pre-primary to Sh27.4 million for High School.
The school started small with 12 students and two teachers, but over time, it added a preschool, Middle School, 'O' levels (Key Stages 1-4), and places for students to stay. Cambridge International officially recognizes Iringa International School, and it offers IGCSE courses. If enough students join, they can also provide A-level courses. For younger kids (ages 3-11), the school is authorized to teach the IB Primary Years Programme.
Iringa International School is proud of its diverse community. There are teachers from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, the UK, Egypt, Ghana, and the USA. Classes have no more than 15 students, and in the Primary Section, each type has a dedicated teacher and a teaching assistant. In High School, there are form tutors for each category. School hours are from 7:50 am to 3:00 pm, and club meeting days (Tuesday to Thursday) extend to 4:00 pm.
The school's mission is to continue the founders' goal of providing a top-notch education to local and expat families. They want to help students become leaders and innovators in our ever-changing world. The staff, students, parents, and the community work together to make Iringa International School one of the best schools in Tanzania.
