IRVIN V. CANTOR
Since 1979, attorney Irv Kantor has been dedicated to helping the families of people who have suffered serious injuries or deaths as a result of illegal activities. His work has provided clients with more than 1,750 positive judgments and settlements, including more than 450 cases of traumatic brain injury. He restored more than 50 sentences and more than $1 million in settlements for men and women who were injured not only in Richmond, but also in Virginia and across the United States, ensuring their future and peace of mind throughout their lives.
Irv was recognized by his colleagues as one of 10 Virginia State Attorneys from 2012 to 2016. In 2014 and 2016 he was named Richmond Personal Injury Advocate of the Year by America's Best Lawyers. The majority of Irv cases are referred to other trial attorneys. Irv has been asked to represent them in his personal injury cases from many experts in the field, including attorneys, judges, claims mediators and doctors. He frequently lectures in Virginia and the United States with other forensic attorneys on many topics, including head injuries, truck accidents, and elements of litigation. He co-authored the Art and Science of Mastering Jury Trials with Judge Samuel Johnston. Irv is, among other things, the founder and president of Jury Impressions, a jury consulting firm that organizes mock trials and focus groups for trial lawyers across the country.
Irv also acts as a mediator in a variety of fatal injuries and deaths. Traumatic brain injury is a large part of Irva's practice. He has successfully handled cases of traumatic brain injury for over 35 years. He wrote a chapter on the legal aspects of brain injury cases for the original medical textbook on Brain Injury Medicine. Irv appeared on the cover of the Virginia and West Virginia Super Lawyers magazines in 2015, and the cover article details Irv's career in traumatic brain injury cases.
