MARK P. ROBINSON, JR.
Mark Robinson was the National President of the American Council of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2014, a national association of experienced trial attorneys and judges with offices in all 50 states. He is a member of the American College of Judicial Lawyers, a highly selective professional community of lawyers and judges (including judges of the United States Supreme Court). He was the former president of the Orange County branch of the American Council of Trial Advocates. In 2011, he was elected to the Home Affairs Committee of the California Judicial Council.
Mark P. Robinson Jr. is the founder, chief partner, and sole shareholder of Robinson Calcagnie, Inc., headquartered in Newport Beach, California. Robinson holds a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and is a graduate of Loyola Law School with honors. He has established an excellent consumer safety law practice, and the landmark Ford Pinto case, Grimshaw v. Ford Motor Company, awarded $128 million in damages and punitive damages by a jury in Orange County, California.
The verdict was recognized by the Trial Lawyers' Association of America as one of the ten most important civil lawsuits of the last millennium. Robinson's other major trials include: Anderson v. General Motors, a Los Angeles jury awarded $4.9 billion to victims of burns in car accidents. Barnett vs. A Merck, New Orleans federal court, awarded $51 million in a $51 million judgment against prescription drugmaker Vioxx. Ketchum v. In Hyundai, a Los Angeles County jury awarded $15 million to a young boy who was paralyzed by a seat belt defect in a crash. Oliver v. Nissan, jury award $9 million in product liability case in Los Angeles County. Siwoo vs. General Motors, a $9 million judgment in a product liability action in San Diego; and Fair v. Ford, a $12 million award in a wrongful death action in Kentucky arising from a postcollision fire involving a school bus.
