MARK LANIER
A lawyer, writer, teacher, pastor and storytelling expert, Marc Lanier is no stranger to community platforms. A subsidiary of healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson. In April 2014, Mark released another headline verdict against Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Inc. and Eli Lilly & Company Diabetes Drug Actos. From the beginning of his career, Mark has proven repeatedly that he is not the type to slow down or settle for his recent victories.
In early 1993, he had a huge impact on litigation, winning a record business fraud conviction by a small oil company against one of America's largest oil suppliers. Ernst vs. Merck set the tone for the pain reliever Vioxx at the national level. Mark supported Vioxx's record conviction in two more significant trials on the same drug. In a fraudulent advertising lawsuit against one of the world's leading distributors of artificial sweeteners, he urged the National Sugar Association's trading group and several of the nation's largest sugar producers to set a precedent.
He is also responsible for reaching a major settlement with syringe maker Retractable Technologies in an antitrust lawsuit against Becton Dickinson & Company, which became the basis for the movie "The Punch" starring Chris Evans. His judgment on behalf of 21 asbestos victims is considered one of the largest in American history.
