James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was a singer, dancer, musician, record producer, and bandleader from the United States. He is widely regarded as the "Godfather of Soul," "Mr. Dynamite," and "Soul Brother No. 1," as well as the "Godfather of Funk" and has a prominent role in twentieth-century music. Throughout his more than 50-year career, he affected the creation of various music genres. Brown was one of the original ten honorees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on January 23, 1986, in New York.
