Stephen Ray Perry (born January 22, 1949) is a singer and songwriter from the United States. He is best known for being the lead singer of the rock band Journey from 1977 to 1987, then again from 1995 to 1998. Perry also had a successful solo career between the mid-1980s and the mid-1990s, appeared on occasion in the 2000s, and returned to music full-time in 2018.
Steve Perry is best known as the main vocalist of the band Journey, but he has also had a successful solo career. Perry, like James Brown above, has been given the title "The Voice" by none other than Jon Bon Jovi. Perry is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is usually named among the top vocalists of all time, and is known for his vocal range. He can sing from F#2 to A5, earning him the moniker "high tenor altino." He has the golden voice of arena rock from the 1980s.
