Joy got her start in television by appearing on variety shows such as We Got Married. Joy is one of the newest female Kpop idols to appear in Korean dramas. Her acting debut came in the music-based Korean drama The Liar and His Lover, where she played the female lead. Joy was named Newcomer of the Year at the OSEN Cable TV Awards.
Her next drama was the MBC drama Tempted, for which she received numerous award nominations. She was named Best Actress at the 2018 MBC Drama Awards and Popularity at The Seoul Awards. She's done a lot of hosting and variety shows since then. In 2022, she is expected to return to Korean dramas.
