Yoona began filming commercials, music videos, and feature films at a young age. She is now heavily involved in both Korean and Chinese dramas. Her acting career began with minor roles in MBC dramas Two Outs in the Ninth Inning and Woman of Matchless Beauty. Yoona played the lead in the KBS drama You Are My Destiny, and she stated that this role was a watershed moment in her career. This role earned her numerous awards, including the 49th Baeksang Arts Award for Best New TV Actress. Her next role was in the 2013 Korean melodrama That Winter, the Wind Blows as a supporting character. She won Best Performance at the 2nd APAN Star Awards and New Star at the SBS Drama Awards for this role.

Snowdrop takes place in November and December of 1987.
