Kelimutu Lake
The Indonesian island of Flores has a volcano called Kelimutu that is close to the village of Moni. East Nusa Tenggara province's Ende, Indonesia, the seat of Ende regency, is located about 50 kilometers (31 miles) to the east of this location. There are three different-colored volcanic crater lakes there.
At the top of Mount Kelimutu, there are three lakes collectively known as Kelimutu. The color of the water in each of these lakes varies. It is thought that the locals are endowed with magical abilities, and each of them has a unique meaning. The indigenous Lio people revere Kelimutu because they think that the spirits of the deceased come here to rest. Old people's souls travel to the cold of Tiwu Ata Bupu (Lake of Old People), while the souls of the wicked go to Tiwu Ata Polo. Tiwu Koo Fai Nuwa Muri (Lake of Young Men and Maidens) is where the souls of young people go (Bewitched or Enchanted Lake). During the dancing of the Lio's annual "Feed the Spirit of the Forefathers'' event, which takes place on August 14, expensive offerings like rice, betel nuts, and pork are left on ceremonial rocks next to lakes.
You can begin your journey to this lovely lake from Moni, a city that serves as a basecamp for travelers. You will be treated to a lovely vista as you travel to the lake. Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai, Tiwu Ata Polo, and Tiwu Ata Mbupu are the names of the three lakes, with Tiwu Ata Mbupu being the most western.
The best time to visit this most stunning lake in Indonesia is early in the morning so you can witness the magnificent dawn views because the lake is sometimes shrouded in fog.
