Sentani Lake
Lake Sentani is at the northeastern corner of the Jayapura Regency in the Indonesian province of Papua, about 20 kilometers from Jayapura City, a tropical, shallow, and low-altitude open lake. Near the town of Sentani, to the south, it is situated. The lake, which the local populace believes to be the residence of the rainbows, is a component of the Cyclops Strict Nature Reserve and is home to several endemic fish species.
22 islands in this area are still inhabited by native tribes, including the Sentani Tribe. A 50-kilometer road trip from Jayapura City will bring you to Lake Sentani.
Cork fish, Sentani sharks, and saw sharks are just a few of the unusual aquatic species that make Lake Sentani noteworthy. The best time of year to visit this lake in Papua is in the middle of the year when the Lake Sentani Festival takes place. Along with the stunning view of the lake and the mountains in the distance, you will also be able to observe the variety of distinctive Papuan cultures.
