Kinaxis
The Kanata neighborhood of Ottawa, Ontario, is home to Kinaxis, a software business specializing in supply chain management, sales, and operation planning. It's a part of the S&P/TSX Composite Index and trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Cadence Computer Corporation, founded in 1984 by Duncan Klett and two others, went public in June 2014. It's staffed by 500 people.
Kinaxis' primary clientele is major international corporations in need of supply-chain management software on a subscription basis. They count Ford, Cisco, Qualcomm, and Avaya among our satisfied clients. In addition, they provide their clients with a range of professional services in a connected field. The average length of a contract is between two and five years. RapidResponse is their flagship offering.
In 2017, subscriptions accounted for roughly 77% of revenue, with professional services accounting for the rest. In addition to selling its own software, Kinaxis licenses its platform to other businesses in exchange for a cut of the subscription fees. In South Korea, Kinaxis has two data centers. About 5% of the $4 billion supply chain planning software market is made up of its 100 or so customers.
As of the end of 2016, the United States accounted for 85% of revenue, Canada for 4%, Asia for 8%, and Europe for the remaining 5%. SAP SE and JDA Software are two competitors in the market for supply chain management software. In 2017, the company saw a decline of 3% in revenue after a big Asian client ceased making payments.
