Nuvei
Nuvei is a Montreal-based international payments technology firm. Nuvei enables companies to accept over 570 different payment methods by providing card issuing, banking, risk management, and fraud management services. In September of 2020, the firm completed a $700 million IPO on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The Canadian initial public offering was the largest IPO ever for a technology business in Canada. Nuvei's IPO on the Nasdaq raised $424.8 million and was successfully completed in October 2021.
Philip Fayer founded Nuvei in 2003 under the name Pivotal Payments.While on a break from his studies at Concordia University, Fayer established the corporation. The firm provided merchant services, including electronic payment processing, for brick-and-mortar and virtual stores.Since its inception, Nuvei has grown tremendously through a combination of organic expansion and strategic mergers and acquisitions.
The company's acquisition strategy was aided by a CA$60 million investment from Goldman Sachs in 2006. This investment allowed the company to complete a number of acquisitions by 2010. At this point in time, the company's annual sales were CA$150 million, and it employed around 300 people across Canada and the United States.
