Lake Debar
The crystal blue color of Lake Debar will blind you along the way to Debar, but the stench of sulphur will catch you off guard. Debar Lake, which blends into the natural scenery at the confluence of the rivers Crni Drim and Radika, is hard to believe is man-made. It is one of the Best Diving Sites in Macedonia.
Lake Debar or Spilje is an artificial lake in western Macedonia, south of Debar, near the location of Spilje Bridge, where the river Radika falls into the river Crin Drim. It is close to the Albanian-Macedonian border. It covers 13.2 km2, is 92 meters deep, and is at 580 meters above sea level. Debar Lake, located five kilometers from Debar in the Debar valley, contains the most water in Macedonia.
Debar Lake is a popular diving destination for locals as well as visitors from nearby nations. The enchanting blue sea water will attract visitors even when diving deep down. Besides, The Racicki Monastery boasts a lovely view of Debar Lake. The monastery was built in the year 1800. In 1835, the primary monastery temple dedicated to Saint George was completed.
