Lake Mavrovo
Lake Mavrovo (Macedonian: аврoво, Macedonian: [mavrv]) is a valley region in the Republic of North Macedonia's northwest corner. Mavrovo National Park and a winter sports complex are also located here. Mavrovo, Nikiforovo, Leunovo, and Mavrovi Anovi are some of the settlements and minor hamlets.
Mavrovo is the name given to this microregion after the village of Mavrovo, which is the most populous community in the area. The region's location atop Bistra Mountain and Lake Mavrovo has aided its development as a year-round tourist destination. Lake Mavrovo is North Macedonia's most popular diving destination. The Mavrovo lake is located at an elevation of 1220 meters. It is 12 kilometers long, 3 kilometers broad, and 13.3 square kilometers in size.
The shoreline stretches for 24 kilometers. The lake's deepest measured position is 48 meters. With this special terrain, this is an extremely attractive place for professional divers. If you are not a professional diver, make sure you have the necessary gear and go with your guide before diving into the waters here. This is considered one of the Best Diving Sites in Macedonia.
