Lake Goplo
Goplo is a lake located close to the city of Gniezno in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship of north-central Poland. It lends the protected area known as Goplo Landscape Park its name.
A West Slavic tribe known as the Goplans lived on the shores of Lake Goplo in the early Middle Ages. The "Mice Tower" of Kruszwica is located at the lake's northernmost point. Its name comes from a folktale about the corrupt Prince Popiel, who was lured into the tower by his population's uprising and devoured by mice. The Polans, the tribe that is credited with "founding" Poland, are thought by some historians and archaeologists to have had their first state here.
We can say that this lake is one of the destination was mentioned the most in the literature of Poland. It is a sizable ribbon-shaped lake with three separate bays that is just outside the city limits and offers picturesque views from its low shoreline along its almost 60 kilometers of coastline.
Goplo also is one of the few unpolluted lakes in Poland. Depending on how you want your day trip there to be organized, the big body of water has a number of bays that provide picturesque views and picnic places along the beaches. It also has a large number of islands that may be visited by boat or foot.
Cycling enthusiasts may get some exercise while taking in views that are unlike anything else in Europe thanks to the numerous bike trails that wind around this amazing environment.
