Lakefield College School, which boasts one of the largest seaside campuses among Canadian boarding schools, has offered generations of teens an education that goes far beyond the classroom.
Lakefield College School students' immediate academic goal is university admission. One hundred percent of last year's graduating class was admitted to university, with 80 percent accepted by their preferred university.
Student achievement standards at universities continue to climb. This is a result of increased rivalry for university spaces as well as the breadth and complexity of knowledge that universities must teach to their pupils.
Lakefield's instructors engage students in academic activities that will enable them to build disciplined study habits, critical thinking abilities, and a flair for cooperative problem-solving in order to prepare students for the demands of university and a quickly changing world. Furthermore, students are provided several opportunities to employ current technology to aid their learning.
Because LCS houses are among the smallest of CAIS boarding schools, they have a unique opportunity to build and foster ties between students and staff that no other school in Canada has. House families create a space and place for international and Canadian boarding and day students to share their lives and stories as one community.
The school is a home away from home for the majority of LCS students. In this intimate community, they participate in various co-curricular activities and have a rich, active social life. The gorgeous natural setting and relaxing atmosphere allow students to be themselves.
Because of the modest size of the community, kids feel heard and supported by teachers and residential staff. Students are constantly urged to take initiative and display leadership in their lives and communities.
