Lazy Dayz Playground
Smothers Park's Lazy Dayz Playground is large in both size and design. This award-winning barrier-free play space is accessible to children of all levels and features carefully selected elements to support the goal of being an inclusive playground. There are several play areas that provide plenty of opportunities for children to explore, each with ramps for children in wheelchairs to access equipment. The developers of this park went far beyond the ADA minimum requirements and removed as many potential hurdles as possible to play.
The waterfront location of Lazy Dayz Playground adds to the fun of this huge, magical playground. Sit by the waterfront and admire the waterfall. And the three fountains in the park add to the excitement. Every 15 minutes, the fountain comes to life and the water show entertains children and adults alike. While there, look for large animals like giant frogs and squirrels in the trees. This fun accent adds a whimsical touch to your park. In 2015 it was named the best playground in the world by the Landscape Architects Network. It is completely handicap-accessible.
