Wallholla in Purmerend, the Netherlands

The next destination is the Netherlands. A playground called Wallholla makes good use of the small space. This mostly metal playground uses vertical space to accommodate a lot of play on a small piece of land rather than an impressive one-acre square. A wire mesh also surrounds the playset, making it easy for children to see but does not fall off high surfaces.

Purmerend was home to the first Wallholla playground built in 2005. It includes a ribbon-like platform throughout the structure that creates the illusion of a floating design. However, despite its creative and quirky shape, this playset also includes many traditional play elements such as rock climbing, slides, sliding sticks, and rock climbing nets. The company that developed the Wallholla playground is currently making different versions of the design.
