Léon: The Professional (1994)

Léon: The Professional, directed by Luc Besson, tells the story of a professional hitman named Léon and a 12-year-old girl named Mathilda. After her family is slain, he takes her in, and she learns from Léon's terrible ways.

Understandably, the premise of this film generated debate. However, as an action film, it can't be denied that it achieved its job. The Léon: The Professional's fast-paced shoot 'em up moments were only enhanced by Natalie Portman's portrayal of the sensitive Mathilda and Jean Reno's portrayal of the loveable Léon. The viewer's relationship to these two heroes who came together under the most extraordinary circumstances was what made the shootouts so captivating.
