Majuli Island

Majuli Island is one of the world's largest river islands, and thus one of the largest in India. This island is famous for its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, making it the most unique of all the islands in India. You'll get a good taste of Assamese culture here. This is one of the most beautiful islands in India. On its coast, you'll find moss instead of sand and traditional northeastern cuisine instead of seafood. However, it will prove to be an experience well worth the effort.

Majuli Island is the most ancient location of the Assamese neo-Vaishnavite monastery, also known as the first Satra. Its origins can be traced back to the 15th century, and there are approximately 22 Satras on this river island that will give you a glimpse into the culture, which can be seen in the area through artefacts, literature, arts, crafts, and weapons. Exploring the Satras will undoubtedly be the most soul-enriching experience of all the major attractions on Majuli Island. Some of the Satras you should visit include Kamalabri Satra, Auniati Satra, Dakhinpat Satra, and Samaguri Satra.
