Malpelo Island
If you want to scuba dive in Colombia, make sure to include this spot, Malpelo Island, in your plans. It is recognized by the United Nations as one of the best diving spots in the world. This is a volcanic island off the coast of the Pacific with seven islets. It is less accessible than the other islands in the country, which adds to its allure. Make sure you are familiar with scuba diving safety tips and have the best dive safety equipment before you go.
Malpelo Island is not intended for novices. It is surrounded by sharks and has steep walls, so only experienced divers should visit. Proceed with caution because the currents can be strong. The best time to dive Malpelo is from January to May if you want to see hammerhead sharks. Smalltooth sand tiger sharks can also be found at this time. The rainy season, on the other hand, lasts from June to December.
