Maracas Beach
The half-moon-shaped Maracas Bay is home to a calm, well-kept beach surrounded by palm trees. This is a popular destination for day trips from Port of Spain—just think of the hour-long drive over the mountains as part of the adventure. Many revelers come here to recover from the yearly Carnival celebration, and it's always fun to partake in another local custom available from local beach shacks: Bake & Shark, a Trinidadian meal of deep-fried shark wrapped in a pocket of deep-fried bread.
It is a picture-perfect beach with a backdrop of dense forests and mountains. The deep bay and wide expanse of powdered sand provide plenty of space for everyone to unwind without feeling packed into a sandy sardine tin.
