Studies found that ingesting 600-1,200 mg of mixed EPA and DHA alleviated symptoms in both groups of patients who experience eye discomfort from wearing contacts or using a computer for more than three hours per day.


Although data is conflicting, omega-3 fatty acids may protect against age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a disorder that can result in vision loss. Higher dietary intakes of EPA and DHA may prevent or delay intermediate, but not advanced, AMD, according to a study including approximately 115,000 older persons.
