Mercado de San Miguel also known as the San Miguel Market is an indoor market and the most popular market in Madrid among tourists, located just one minute's walk from the famous Plaza Mayor. There are over 30 vendors in the market, most of which emphasize selling prepared produce and tapas to visitors. It's not a place to buy groceries to take home, but rather a place to hang out, grab a beer or a glass of wine or champagne, and taste tapas from different vendors. Currently, this historic building is one of the main food markets in the world, as it allows visitors to tour the essence and flavors of every nook and cranny of Spain.
Located in Plaza de San Miguel, next to Plaza Mayor, the Mercado de San Miguel is a charming covered food market that its best original twentieth-century iron structure, this is 1 of the best indoor markets in the world. Nowadays, the Market of San Miguel is the only market in Madrid with an iron framework. It has become one of the most popular tourist attractions, offering multiple stands with vegetables and fruit, but also local “tapas”.
