Mtwapa
Mtwapa is a small town in Kenya's Mombasa district, about 10 miles from the city center. The town is a small resort area with high-priced homes and other properties. The dusty town is one of the coast province's fastest-growing towns. Mtwapa lacks modern public transportation but offers more tourist attractions.
Several Europeans settled and developed Mtwapa. The town is known as the "village that never sleeps" because the bars in the town play loud music until past midnight, and there are vendors and people selling food. Because many Europeans build homes for retirement or spend their winters there, the area has become popular with Kenyans as well, with real estate prices and construction activity skyrocketing.
Mombasa Marine Park, which is nearby, is the area's main tourist attraction. The park is famous for its clear blue ocean and swaying coconut palms on white sandy beaches. The park is located between Mtwapa and Tudor Creeks, and its turquoise waters are ideal for windsurfing, water skiing, snorkeling, and diving. They also provide a home for a diverse range of marine species such as crabs, starfish, stonefish, cucumbers, sea urchins, corals, turtles, sea grasses, and interesting migratory birds such as crab plovers.
