Lamu is the country's oldest surviving town, located on Lamu Island off Africa's coast. The town itself has narrow streets that are only wide enough for donkeys and people to pass through. The dhow is the primary mode of transportation in the waters surrounding the island, and the lack of fast transportation lends an incredibly relaxed atmosphere to the entire town. The beach is still largely unpopulated by people and tourists in general, making it an ideal place to relax.

The structures are in excellent condition, and some date back to the late 14th century. The proximity of the buildings creates an intimate atmosphere, the streets are cool and quiet, and the older parts of the buildings offer an interesting change in texture.

There are also many places to visit in town. The Lamu Museum, located on the island's waterfront, gives visitors an overview of the island's history and culture. The Swahili House Museum is a beautifully restored traditional Swahili house that provides a genuine insight into the culture for those interested in Swahili culture. Lamu Fort is a massive structure with a colorful and educational walk-through display of the local environment and natural history that is ideal for children.

The island's library is located here, and there are many interesting books that can be found and read at your leisure. Dhow trips, which include fishing and snorkeling and allow you to relax at a barbecue lunch on Manda Beach, are more active activities to participate in.

Malindi is a tropical town on Kenya's north coast, situated on a stretch of idyllic beaches with intriguing hideaways. Malindi is a wonderful mix of new and old - luxurious resorts line the palm-fringed beaches, ready to pamper your every need.

The Vasco Da Gama Pillar, located on the seafront road near the jetty, is one of Africa's oldest remaining monuments. Vasco Da Gama built it in 1498 as a thank you for the warm welcome he received from the Sultan of Malindi. The cross atop the pillar is the original, made of Lisbon limestone. Close by is East Africa's oldest Christian church, a small Portuguese chapel dedicated to St Francis Xavier that was built in 1542 and is surrounded by a small but historic cemetery.

The Malindi Museum, near the jetty on the seafront, has some interesting exhibitions about Malindi's history. A modern town center with craft shops, restaurants, bars, and a nightclub is also available. When the Malindi and Watamu Marine Parks were established in 1968, they were the first of their kind in Africa. Coral kingdoms and colorful fish species such as Angel, Butterfly, Surgeon, and Trigger fish can be found in the marine parks.

Tourists who wish to view the aquatic wonders through glass bottom rides must pay a fee to the marine department. Half-day and full-day private boat rentals are available. You can also go scuba diving or snorkeling within these vibrant reserves.

Diani Beach is a coastal resort town located approximately 35 kilometers (22 miles) south of Mombasa. It is located on a beautiful 10km stretch of sandy white beach and is considered one of Africa's best beach destinations. All of the hotels in town offer a variety of activities such as diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, water skiing, paragliding, and much more. The bay is protected by a reef and offers safe swimming for you and your entire family. There are numerous excellent dive sites where you can see turtles, dolphins, and a variety of colorful corals and tropical fish.

After you've had your fill of the surf, you can spend some time on the turf, playing a round of golf at the 18-hole championship golf course in Diani Beach. Take a stroll through the beautiful forests, which are home to baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, and numerous bird species. Another excellent idea is to rent a bike and ride along the coast, taking in the breathtaking scenery. Diani Beach fits the bill perfectly, with its small beach town vibe, few buildings and cars, and plenty of space along its stunning stretch of white sandy beach that is soft to the touch, where one can relax.
