Museum SAN
The SAN (Space Art Nature) Museum is located in Oak Valley in the Wonju Mountains, South Korea. The Hansol Cultural Foundation manages the building, which was built by Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Ando explained that he created the museum to show his appreciation for the architecture and the surrounding natural beauty. The museum focuses on the relationship between art and nature and includes a welcome center, flower garden, water garden, meditation hall, stone garden, main building, and James Turrell exhibition hall. A print shop, café, and museum store are among the other amenities.
The Hansol Group owns Oakvalley, which is a purpose-built resort. The museum extends 700 meters (2,300 feet) along a ridge. "I wanted to create a garden museum in the sky, a dreamy museum like no other", says Ando, the architect who created the $70 million main structure and gardens. The main structure is made up of four oblong boxes connected by circular and triangular courtyards and encased in paju, a honey-colored stone native to the area. The Paper Gallery and the Cheongjo Galleries are both housed in the same structure.
