"My Girl" by The Temptations
"My Girl" is a soul music song written by the Temptations and recorded for the Gordy (Motown) record label and it became the Temptations' first number one record in the United States. It is now their hallmark song.
Robinson's wife, Miracles member Claudette Rogers Robinson, inspired him to write "My Girl". The Temptations' 1965 album The Temptations Sing Smokey includes the song. The Library of Congress chose the song for preservation in the National Recording Registry in 2017 because it is "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
"My Girl," with its distinctive introduction and unfettered expression of joy, would go on to become one of Motown's most well-known and successful hits. In 1998, "My Girl" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
