Mzuzu University
Mzuzu University is one of the most important and best universities in Malawi. The school is in Mzuzu, Malawi's northern region. It was founded in 1997 and welcomed its first students in 1999. When the university first opened its doors, the Chancellor was Malawi's former President Dr Bakili Muluzi, and the first Vice Chancellor was Professor Terrence Davis. Professor Peter Mwanza, who later entered politics and became a cabinet minister, was instrumental in the establishment of the university. He served as Chairman of the University Council and later as Vice Chancellor.
Mzuzu University's results-oriented training approach is intended to benefit the nation and local communities by focusing its research and teaching on long-term development goals. A comprehensive university-wide restructuring and curriculum review is currently underway in order for the programs to respond to both dynamic academic research agendas and development goals at the global, national, and community levels.
