Nepal Sanskrit University
Nepal Sanskrit University, founded in 1986, is a higher education institution located in the small town of Beljhundi (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Province No 5. Nepal Sanskrit University, which is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education of Nepal, is a small (enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) coeducational Nepalese higher education institution.
In classical and modern subjects, the university offers Bachelor (Shastri), Bachelor of Education, Masters (Acharya), and Doctoral programs. It provides Ayurvedic intermediate courses, Bachelors of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), and Ayurvedacharya condensed courses.
Around the country, the university has 12 constituent and 13 affiliated Vidhyapithas (campuses).
The university was founded with the following goals in mind, inspired by Nepal's long and unbroken tradition of Sanskrit education:
- To meet the need for a self-contained institution for Sanskrit teaching/learning and research at multiple levels.
- To systematize Sanskrit education in the country to the highest level.
- Sanskrit education should be preserved and promoted in all sectors of Nepalese society.
- To transform Nepal into a learning center through Sanskrit education.
NSU provides resources for degree and non-degree research projects based on Sanskrit. It organizes training programs in Vedic and Buddhist teaching, as well as Yoga instruction.
