New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture

A group of students and their art teacher, Mercedes Matter, founded the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York City, and New York State in 1963. It now resides in the structure that was formerly home to the Whitney Museum of American Art. This is one of the best Art Classes in NYC.

In the Fall and Spring semesters, the school hosts an evening lecture series that is often held twice a week and features speakers from around the world, including artists who discuss their own work as well as critics and academics who discuss a variety of historical topics. In the New York Observer, critic Mario Naves referred to the School's exhibition program as "one of the city's most significant places for contemporary art."

If you're seeking for a remarkable arts program, New York Studio is the place for you. Independent work is encouraged here for the students. Each student is expected to establish their own work ethic and philosophy, which will afterwards be reflected in their artistic expression.

The objective of this workshop is to provide each ambitious artist with a profound educational opportunity that will last a lifetime. A student will have a strong grasp of the language of art, a perceptive imagination, and a committed work ethic, to name a few, by the time they have finished their degree.
