Nike was founded on January 25, 1964, as Blue Ribbon Sports by Bill Bowerman, a track and field coach, and Phil Knight, a middle-distance runner. This is one of the best sportswear brands in the world. The company initially operated as a distributor for the Japanese shoe company Onitsuka Tiger (now ASICS). In 1971, Blue Ribbon Sports rebranded itself as Nike, named after the Greek goddess of victory.

Based on the popularity and sales of sportswear, the American business Nike will be the largest sportswear brand and one of the top shoe companies globally in 2022. It is one of the biggest producers of sporting goods in the world and the biggest provider of athletic footwear and gear.
