North Clear Creek Falls
North Clear Creek Falls, one of Colorado's tallest waterfalls at more than 100 feet high, offers visitors a unique experience. One of Colorado's most visited sights, the falls are accessible via an observation area on the side of the road and are known for their magnificent falling water.
A rainbow or two might be visible on sunny days through the mist at the base of the waterfall. The forceful water flows over the cliffside, fed by runoff from nearby mountains that are 10,000 and 11,000 feet high, producing a beautiful sound and spectacle.
The falls are situated in the center of the Rio Grande National Forest in southwest Colorado, close to Lake City. The Silver Thread Scenic Byway is close to the observation location. For better views of this amazing natural creation, there are a number of small routes that may be accessed.
This is a nice spot to stop for a picnic and enjoy views of what has come to be the most well-known waterfall in the Rocky Mountain State rather than so much of a climb.
