Nukufetau Reef

Following your visit to Funafuti Island, make your way to Nukufetau Reef, a stunning fringing reef just beyond the lagoon. Nukufetau is a small atoll off the coast of Tuvalu. The atoll was claimed by the United States under the Guano Islands Act in the nineteenth century, and it was relinquished in a friendship treaty signed in 1979 and ratified in 1983.

Nukufetau Reef has a huge coral reef, which is a coral rim that partially or fully encircles a lagoon and includes coral islands or islets (motu). Outside the lagoon, there is a bordering reef, while inside the lagoon, there is patchy coral cover, largely in scattered bommies.

The lagoon's floor is made up of soft sand. There are also some regions of heavier coral development inside the lagoon, including big patches of staghorn and table Acropora colonies. This is the ideal place for scuba diving. Passengers think that the coral reefs under the water are very beautiful. When diving, you will be completely cooled down by the very clean sea water here. It is one of the Best Diving Sites in Tuvalu.
