Ostrow Tumski
Even now, hundreds of years after the district was formed, Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island) serves as the religious core of Wrocaw. Explore the city's cathedrals and churches during the day, then stroll down Katedralna Street at night, when the cobblestones are illuminated by vintage gas lamps. With beautiful scenery, the island is always in the top of the most beautiful isl
If you're traveling from downtown Wrocaw, cross the Oder River, also known as the Odra in Polish, to go to Cathedral Island. The Amber Road, an old trade route connecting Venice and the Baltic States, ran through the island's original wooden bridges.
This is a lovely, historic, and popular place to spend an hour or two wandering around. You can go to one of the many churches (mentioned individually) or simply take in the architecture, cobblestone streets, river vistas, eateries, and cafés. On a lovely, cold Sunday in March, I spent some time exploring this region and the adjacent islands - and it was very popular.
The atmosphere inside and outside the structure is incredible. A lamplighter can also be seen lighting gas lamps. A walk around the island will provide you with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You can visit the island in the afternoon or evening to get the most out of your vacation.
