Wolin is the name of a Polish island in the Baltic Sea, right off Poland's coast, as well as a settlement on the island. The island is administered by the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The Strait of Wina separates Wolin from the island of Usedom (Uznam), and the Strait of Dziwna separates Wolin from mainland Pomerania. Mount Grzywacz, at 116 meters above sea level, is the highest peak on the island, covering 265 km2 (102 sq mi). The population is 30,000 people. On this island have many attractions like Wolinski National Park, Turquoise Lake, Island Karsibor, Village of Viking & Slavs in Wolin...spoiled for you to explore and experience. This island is also considered one of the most beautiful islands in Poland.
Turquoise Lake is a small, man-made reservoir named after the water's blue-green tint. There was a chalk mine here when Germany occupied the island, which is now the lake bed, and it gives the surface a wonderful hue when combined with light. You can take a quiet stroll around this magnificent lake, through the lovely woodland, surrounded by birds chirping. If you visit this beautiful spot, keep in mind that swimming and fishing are not permitted in the lake.
