Palladium
Palladium is a chemical element with the atomic number 46 and the symbol Pd. Palladium was named after the asteroid Pallas after it was discovered in 1803 by English chemist William Hyde Wollaston.
Palladium, along with Platinum, Rhodium, Ruthenium, Iridium, and Osmium, is a member of the Platinum Group. While they all have similar chemical properties, Palladium has the lowest melting temperature and is the least dense of them all. Palladium is most commonly employed in Catalytic Converters, which transform up to 90% of the dangerous gasses in vehicle exhaust into less toxic chemicals.
It's also utilized in electronics, groundwater treatment, hydrogen purification, dentistry, and medicine, as well as some of the world's most expensive jewelry. If you want to invest in this precious metal, you'll need a lot of cash, since a single gram of Palladium will set you back $72.13!
