Planks Clothing
Based out of the UK, Planks Clothing diverges from the alpine origins of many snow brands, drawing its roots instead from the vibrant ski culture of Britain. The brand name itself is a nod to the slang term for skis. Born from the snow parks rather than the high alps, Planks Clothing embodies the enthusiasm, camaraderie, and edgy spirit of the grassroots ski community in the UK.
Jim Adlington, an ex-pro skier, founded Planks Clothing in 2009 after spending seasons in the ski haven of Val d'Isère, France. Recognizing a gap in the market for clothing that mirrored the style and spirit of the park and freeride scene, Adlington embarked on the journey of Planks. With its heart beating for the love of skiing and a soul that resonates with the vibe of the UK's snow parks, the brand has swiftly climbed the ladder of recognition, gaining loyalty from both seasoned professionals and amateurs alike.
Planks Clothing's design narrative is truly one of a kind. Infusing British street style with functional ski wear, the brand curates apparel that's characterized by relaxed fits, understated hues with occasional pops of color, and quirky graphics inspired by ski jargon and culture. Technically, Planks makes no compromise. Their pieces utilize the RIDEdry fabric, a material developed in-house, which offers an impeccable balance between waterproofing and breathability. Additional features like underarm vents, reinforced seams, and adjustable components ensure that every piece from Planks is both stylish and mountain-ready.
Among its roster of products, the Planks "Good Times" jacket is iconic. Known for its relaxed fit and graphic detailing, the jacket also packs in technical specs like a 15k waterproof and 15k breathability rating courtesy of the RIDEdry technology, ensuring wearers are ready for both the slopes and après-ski scenes.
