Rhine Falls

Rhine Falls is Switzerland's biggest waterfall and Europe's greatest waterfall. The falls are on the High River, at the boundary of Schaffhausen and Zurich. It originated around 14-17,000 years ago during the latest ice period. The waterfall is 150 meters broad and 23 meters tall. Except for eels, no fish living near the waterfall can swim upwards due to the tremendous water flow. The waterfall still preserves its natural splendor, which draws people from all over the world.

The magnificent and serene Laufen castle is located directly near the waterfall. The jade-colored river water complements the medieval castle's old splendor. Tourists frequently visit restaurants and hotels with stunning views of the waterfall. The year's strongest and most magnificent water flow occurs from May through July. You should come here to enjoy the dazzling beauty of the river as well as the bright sky here at the waterfall.
